GRENVILLE WINS MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Over 50 National Awards were announced with the final one, the individual public vote, won by Grenville and presented to him by HRH, the Princess Royal.

Last evening (March 27) in a glittering awards ceremony at the packed Bobby Moore Suite, Wembley Stadium, the work of the Bath-based Songs&Smiles Charity Golden-Oldies was recognised with its founder Grenville Jones being awarded the prestigious UK Excellence Awards 2025 Patron’s Award for Individual achievement by the British Quality Foundation Patron, HRH, the Princess Royal.

It was in 2007 when respected choir leader and musician Grenville, who lives in Bath, launched the charity that was based on bringing isolated lonely people together to enjoy fun Sing&Smile organised community singing sessions in Church halls, community rooms and libraries across South West England and Wales (Goldies Cymru).

Over the last 18 years Grenville has also built up a reputation for his leadership of many community choirs, although he is always quick to point out that the Goldies Charity is NOT about choir singing but more specifically about community health and wellbeing sessions for over 3,000 older isolated and vulnerable people. From the original four ‘Goldies’ sessions taken by Grenville in and around the Bath and Bristol areas the work of the Charity, with Sir Cliff Richard as its Patron, has grown to the point today where they organise over 170 sessions across England and in Wales, under the Goldies Cymru banner.

Alongside the charity work, he has led the development of community choirs and, through his separate music business, runs 34 mixed-voice choirs with 1600 enthusiastic singers. Goldies however is entirely different but both Grenville’s choir work and his charity are based on a very simple principle, he says :

“I understand that there were hundreds of votes and I’d like to thank everyone across my Choirs and the Goldies Charity who took time to vote for me.

“Singing is good for your health and wellbeing, it encourages friendship and should most definitely be on prescription.”

Carrie White, Events, Communications & Marketing Lead of The British Quality Foundation (BQF) said;

“Our awards cover a variety of different areas, one of the most significant being our Patron’s Awards for everyday excellence. We have separate, independent panels of judges for all of our Awards and it is interesting to note that the Golden-Oldies Charity was nominated as a finalist in the Patron’s Award Organisations. In addition Grenville Jones was nominated for the Patron’s Award Individuals for his leadership and dedication for taking forward not only the work of the charity but his encouragement and development of community singing across so many areas of the UK.”

Grenville’s work has been recognised on many occasions and has enjoyed the support of numerous Trusts and philanthropic groups, Local Authorities and supportive Trusts, the National Lottery and many others.

Dr Alwyn Humphreys, MBE and Goldies Cymru Trustee said:

“When Covid shut down all of the Goldies in-person daytime sessions it was typical of the determination of Grenville to find a new way to reach out to isolated people. We did this with the innovative introduction of sessions which were made available to people in their homes through YouTube and professionally produced and distributed sessions. Sofa singing was born!”

The charity has also led the way with its intergenerational Primary School events, supported by the National Lottery through its Heritage Lottery Fund. Three years ago an intergenerational project from Goldies, based on the commemoration of Armistice Day and World War II, won the prestigious Education Category of the National Lottery Awards 2018. Grenville received the award from Welsh soprano Katherine Jenkins at a televised event in London.

“With the continued support of our brilliant session leaders and many sponsors and supporters we are adding more Goldies Sing&Smile sessions. We know that we are making a huge difference to the lives of so many older vulnerable people.

“You really cannot be gloomy or sad if you are singing at a Goldies session,” added Grenville

Goldies regularly receives complimentary anecdotes through the freelance session leaders who deliver the Songs&Smiles sessions across England and Wales.

Jaine Thorne takes Goldies sessions in and around Somerset. Last week she received this email from the daughter of an older gentleman who regularly attends one of her sessions.

“Before dad came to Goldies, he had forgotten how to enjoy most of his songs and it was coming to your wonderful sessions, your endless encouragement, your joy and upliftment of my Dad, and continual support that brought it all flooding back to him. It was you who made music happen for him again.

“I can't thank you enough and I've got tears in my eyes as I'm writing this. Music is the most amazing gift for all of us, but especially people with dementia. You brought joy and the light of life back to my Dad and I'll be forever grateful to you.”

Goldies Charity reflects on Christmas Celebrations across Wales and England

Grenville Jones, founder of the Golden-Oldies Charity, looks back on the hundreds of special events held during the Christmas season bringing Songs & Smiles to older isolated people.

“At Goldies we know that Christmas is not everyone’s favourite time of year, for many it’s a reminder of loss and isolation. This is why we make an extra special effort every year to bring as many isolated people as possible together for fun and laughter. Our special daytime events entertain and delight with old friends and new. Organised Christmas events to celebrate at Christmas and provide events to look forward to. This is what Goldies is all about.

“The Charity launched in 2007 with just a handful of daytime FUN Sing&Smile sessions in and around the Bath area, all taken by founder Grenville. Now there are over 170 across England and Wales with 48 freelance session leaders and 100’s attending.

“During November and December 2024, we hosted a fantastic eight county-wide Christmas BIG SINGs across Southwest and Southeast England by our team based in the South West. These events could only have taken place with the amazing support of the Edward Gostling Foundation, the Garfield Weston Foundation, the Julia Rausing Trust, the National Lottery, the People’s Postcode Lottery and Swindon Borough Council.

“Where possible, we provided free transport and a full afternoon of entertainment for over 1,000 people, 2000 cups of tea were served along with sandwiches, cake and a multitude of mince pies. We sang, danced and smiled our way through the festive season.

“We launched our Christmas activities on November 28 at Nailsea Methodist Church with all our North Somerset sessions attending. Kingshill Church School delighted us all with their acapella singing of Christmas songs followed by the Kookie Ukes Ukelele Band.

“Next up on December 3 was our largest event attended by 190 people at St Michael's Church Centre in Stoke Gifford for our Bristol and South Glos sessions. The Auditorium was packed, especially when joined by 60 children from St Michael’s Church Primary School singing Christmas songs and allowing us to join in playing Boomwhackers. After lunch Mel Wittmaack joined us for some Chair Dance which caused lots of laughter! A special thanks goes to the John James Bristol Foundation and the Monmouthshire Building Society for supporting our work in these areas.

“The Wells party on December 4 was held at The Bishops Palace. Sandwiches, cake, tea and coffee were served in the Stable Yard on arrival, with Christmas Crackers, small gifts and drinks. This was followed by an hour of Goldies singing Christmas music in the very beautiful Chapel. Our thanks to the team at the Bishops Palace who make this event possible.

“Deputy Mayor Councillor Fay Howard joined the celebrations on December 5 at Coleview Community Centre in Swindon. With some raucous singing and line dancing, as well a wonderful performance from Covingham Park Primary School lead by Jo Crabbe. Our thanks go to Swindon Borough Council for supporting our work across the area. As always Swindon had a huge raffle with prizes donated from participants and local businesses throughout the year.

“On December 6 we held two Parties. The first at Martock Parish Hall in South Somerset was completely full of Goldies participants and their families from across the County. Martock Primary School children sang us some fabulous Christmas Songs and Chaffcombe Reservoir Dogs Ukulele Group thoroughly entertained us with popular hits and Christmas numbers. The Ukulele group welcomed one of our regular Goldies, Frank Wilson, onto the stage to play his harmonica to ‘Imagine’ by John Lenon. Frank has dementia but is still able to play his harmonica note for note and regularly plays at Sing&Smile sessions in Yeovil, Queen Camel and Martock. It was extremely moving to hear Frank play, he finished to a huge cheer from the audience, after which he took his bow!

“The second party on the December 6 was held in Essex at the Braintree Community Centre. Goldies Session Leaders Rob and Sue hosted this brilliant afternoon for all Essex Sing&Smile session participants. Beckers Green Primary School entertained everyone with some beautiful singing. One lady participant said she was “moved to tears by their wonderful rendering of ‘O Holy Night’ which was her most favourite song in all the world. After lunch came the wonderful performance of Braintree Male Voice Choir. A special thanks goes to Braintree United Charities and FSJ Charities who helped fund our work in Essex.

“The Key Centre in Keynsham was the next location on December 13 for some of our BANES and Bristol Sing&Smile attendees. We were joined by the Kooky Ukes and enjoyed plenty of singing, dancing, laughing and smiling along to hits from the 60’s onwards and Christmas songs after refreshments. Not to mention a pompom snowball fight! Thanks go to Keynsham Town Council who helped fund the party and the Masonic Charitable Trust who support our work across B&NES.

“The final Christmas Party was held on December 19 Edwards Court in Exeter, kindly supported by Exeter City Council. Our Leaders Katie and Lisa encouraged ample singing and dancing with everyone, with sandwiches, tea, cake, crackers and small gifts!”

With the wonderful support of the Julia Rausing Trust, Goldies in England again reinforced their commitment in bringing together children in Primary Schools with older people in their award-winning intergenerational programme. A unique new song called ‘Forever Young’ was commissioned by Grenville Jones and was performed at many of the events listed above. It also featured as a open Goldies Day which was held at the Pavilion in Bath and attended by four local Primary Schools and 300 older people. It was introduced by special guest, The Mayor of Bath.

Across South West England and in South Wales 35 Primary Schools and 750 young people joined together with older people in Christmas celebration. All this was made possible with the support of the Julia Rausing Trust.

“We will be continuing our Primary School events throughout 2025,” said Goldies Founder, Grenville Jones.

“In Wales the Goldies Cymru groups enjoyed a fun and festive December. The CARDIFF LIONS once again invited our Goldies in Cardiff to a Christmas Dinner, which is always a huge success and enjoyed by all of the Goldies that attend. They enjoyed a festive dinner and were treated like royalty.

“Off the back of our successful Intergenerational project in 2024, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, we welcomed the pupils of Ysgol Y Castell to join our session in Kidwelly, to sing some Christmas Carols, and our Rhiwbina Goldies were invited to Rhiwbeina school for another visit, to join in with their Christmas festivities. At one of our new sessions this year in Bargoed, we had the pleasure of welcoming pupils from St Gwladys, who thoroughly enjoyed singing with our Goldies and having a dance at the end of the session. Also, Birchgrove Primary School choir came along to our Christmas Special at Park End Church, Rhydypennau where the Goldies also had the pleasure of a VERY special guest – Father Christmas, who told us a story, joined us for the singing and brought some prizes for the raffle!

“All of our sessions had extra special sessions with Christmas songs and carols, Christmas jumpers and mince pies, with many organising to go out together for Christmas Lunch.

“Goldies Cymru in Wales is supported by the wonderful Moondance Foundation which has allowed the charity to develop its work through 2024 and to plan new sessions in 2025.

“Goldies Cymru has also been introduced to many lonely older people in Conwy during 2024 in close partnership with Conwy County Borough Council.”

Ted lives in Cardiff and never misses his weekly Goldies Sing&Smile session. “I do not know where I would be if it wasn’t for going to Goldies. The leaders are simply wonderful and the friendship that I have made has, without doubt, made such a massive difference to my life over these last few years since I lost my wife. Life was very lonely but the Goldies Charity changed all that!”

Music has many benefits, especially for those living with dementia, as it can help maintain speech and language and even improve mood"
On Thursday 5th October, Goldies from the Rhydypennau session were invited to attend Llys Herbert for the official Grand Opening of the Care Home to explore the spacious and beautifully furnished facilities, meet the friendly team and learn about the quality care  and lifestyle on offer.  Afterwards, an uplifting Sing & Smile session was enjoyed by existing Goldies and new friends made at Llys Herbert and regular monthly sessions will be launching this December.

DATGANIAD I’R WASG...

Bydd The Goldies Charity, sy’n adnabyddus a phoblogaidd am eu sesiynau canu cymdeithasol poblogaidd a hwyliog Canu&Gwenu ar draws Cymru a Lloegr yn dod â chymunedau ynghyd mewn steil i ddathlu Coroni’r Brenin ym mis mai!
Cafodd The Golden-Oldies Charity, a gaiff ei  galw fel arfer yn ‘Goldies’, ei sefydlu gan Grenville Jones, cerddor sy’n byw yng Nghaerfaddon, yn 2007. Mae dros 120 o grwpiau Canu&Gwenu erbyn hyn mewn gwahanol rannau  o Gymru a Lloegr mewn llyfrgelloedd, canolfannau cymunedol a neuaddau eglwys.
Bydd Goldies yn dathlu penwythnos y Coroni yn eu holl grwpiau gyda llyfryn arbennig o ganeuon yn llawn caneuon o flynyddoedd cofiadwy y Brenin, yn cynnwys rhai gan ei hoff ffefrynnau – tebyg i The Three Degrees a berfformiodd yn ei barti pen-blwydd yn 30 oed yn 1978.
Dywedodd Cheryl, Arweinydd Ardal Rhaglen Cymru: “Mae’n wych y byddwn yn dathlu Coroni’r Brenin yn ein sesiynau. Mae’n ddigwyddiad hanesyddol sy’n bwysig iawn i lawer o’r rhai sy’n cymryd rhan yn ein sesiynau. Rwyf wedi cael ymateb gwirioneddol gadarnhaol a chynifer o syniadau am yr hyn yr hoffent eu wneud yn y grwpiau. Bydd mis Mai yn fis llawen a chofiadwy.”
Bydd pob grŵp yn gwneud rhywbeth ychydig yn wahanol, Thema Frenhinol gyda theisennau a snaciau i’w rhannu ac eitemau Brenhinol. Dywedodd Joanne, Arweinydd De Gwlad yr Haf (Somerset); “Mae Chard yn wirioneddol edrych ymlaen at wneud ein sesiwn ym mis Mai yn arbennig. Rydym yn ei ymestyn a byddwn i gyd yn gwisgo coch, gwyn a glas. Byddwn yn dod â thipyn o fwyd a diod ac yn edrych ymlaen at ychwanegu Cwis Brenhinol at y digwyddiadau.”
Gyda’r nod o drechu unigrwydd mewn cymunedau lleol gyda gweithgareddau cerddorol HWYLIOG a CHALONOGOL, mae sesiynau Goldies yn llawn chwerthin a  sgwrs gyda phobl yn canu caneuon poblogaidd o’r 50au ymlaen gyda’i gilydd. Mae caneuon poblogaidd gydag artistiaid fel Syr Cliff Richard – sy’n Llywydd yr elusen, Syr Tom Jones, Elvis, Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark a llawer mwy.
Mae Stephanie yn arwain grŵp yn ne swydd Caerloyw: “Rwyf newydd gael fy mhecyn coroni, mor wych. Mae cymaint mwy o pobl yn ymuno â’n sesiwn ar hyn o bryd, bydd yn wych gweld pobl yn teimlo’n barod i ail-ymuno â’u cymuned leol ar ôl y pandemig. Mae pawb yn sôn pa mor wych mae tipyn o ganu gyda’i gilydd yn gwneud iddynt deimlo”
MAE CANU YN DDA I CHI! Ar wahân i fod yn hwyliog a chodi’r galon, mae gan ganu lawer o fanteision i iechyd. Gall canu ysgogi ymatebion imiwnedd, rhyddhau endorffinau sy’n llacio poen, gwella cwsg a gostwng chwyrnu, gwella galluedd ysgyfaint ac ystum, a gwneud lles i gyhyrau’r wyneb a’r stumog. Mae canu yn wych am lacio straen hefyd  a gwyddom ei fod yn dda am wella iechyd  meddwl, cefnogi’r rhai sy’n profi galar a phrofedigaeth, a datblygu ymdeimlad o berthyn a bod wedi cysylltu.
Dywedodd Monica, Arweinydd Sesiwn yn Swydd Efrog: “Cefais y pecyn Coroni drwy’r post, am syniad hyfryd. Bydd fy ngrwpiau yn dod ag ychydig o fwydydd a diodydd gyda nhw a phethau ar gyfer raffl. Byddant wrth eu bodd gyda’r pamffled ac mae nifer wedi gofyn am grysau-ti Goldies hefyd. Rydyn ni’n caru Goldies ac yn falch i fod yn rhan o’r elusen wych yma.”
Diolch yn fawr i St Monica Trust ym Mryste am gefnogi ein sesiynau Canu&Gwenu ym Mryste, de Swydd Caerloyw, gogledd Gwlad yr Haf a B&NES gyda grant bach o gynllun Grant y Coroni.
Mae Sefydliad Moondance yn gefnogwr gwych yng Nghymru.
Mae sesiynau Canu&Gwenu Goldies ar agor i bawb, gan roi “rhywbeth i edrych ymlaen ato” i pobl, cyfle i fynd allan, gwneud ffrindiau newydd ac – yn bwysicaf oll –cael ychydig o hwyl. Nid côr yw Goldies, nid yw’n rhaid i chi fedru canu i ymuno, dim ond bod wrth eich bodd gyda cherddoriaeth a chwmni. Argymhellir cyfraniad o £3 am fynychu.
Mae’r Côr pob amser yn awyddus i recriwtio arweinwyr sesiynau newydd a gwirfoddolwyr ac i glywed gan sefydliadau sy’n gweithio gyda phobl hŷn ac ynysig. Ewch i’r wefan www.golden-oldies.org.uk , ffonio’r swyddfa ar 01761 470006 neu anfon e-bost at [email protected] i gael mwy o wybodaeth.

TIME TO SING!

The fun day time Sing&Smile sessions from the Goldies Cymru Charity are now back in full swing with more to be added in the weeks ahead, reaching further communities across Wales.

“The demand for our FUN Sing&Smile sessions across Wales is wonderful,” says Cheryl Davies, the Cymru Programme Leader.

“Older people across Wales have missed socialising and being together, especially our regular ‘Goldies’ attendees.”

Since re-starting our face to face singing sessions, Goldies Cymru have welcomed six new session leaders to keep up with the demand for community singing, but ;“We are always looking for more,” says Cheryl.

With support from the National Lottery, in Wales, Goldies Cymru have introduced new sessions for people living with dementia and their carers.   Working with Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services sessions were launched in Crymych, Maenclochog and Fishguard, as well as bringing Sing&Smile sessions into regional Dementia meeting centres in partnership with Dementia Matters in Powys.

This year, Goldies Cymru is celebrating their 10th year, so plans for a celebration are underway for November at Park End Church (Llandennis Road, Cardiff) with the continued support from The Moondance Foundation.  Those that attend Sing&Smile sessions from all across Cardiff are being invited to the celebration, where they will be treated to an extended Sing&Smile session with the Session Leaders, decorate themselves with self-made tin(-foil) party hats and enter ‘The Great Goldies Bake-off’.

Grenville Jones, Goldies founder will be joining in the celebration, he said;

“I am really looking forward to it, a fantastic chance to see a room full of our ‘Goldies’. This really is about giving thanks to them, for all their support over the years.”

Cheryl added;

“If you enjoy a good old singalong to those well-loved hits of the 50s onwards, pop along to your nearest session, make friends and ENJOY. We are a Registered Charity and do ask please for all those attending to make a £3 donation to our work so we can extend our session, reaching older isolated people across Wales.”

Wednesday July 6, 2022

Forced by Covid to cancel all of its daytime FUN Sing&Smile sessions in 2020, the Golden-Oldies Charity took their FUN weekly singalongs online.

www.goldieslive.com

‘Sofa-singing’ introduced Wales-based Goldies session leader Cheryl Davies to a weekly audience of older people across the UK.

“Such was the popularity of Cheryl’s singing that the Charity have produced a CD of her performing some of the popular melodies which are such a hit with our older folk,” says Charity Founder Grenville Jones.

Song list – see end of release.

Many residential homes and age-support organisations live streamed the twice weekly sessions with Cheryl becoming the popular voice (and face) of ‘Goldies’, as it has become known.

The double-track CD with five popular songs from the 50s will be given to everyone now back attending and enjoying their popular sessions in Church halls, community rooms and Libraries.

“Cheryl leads the Charity’s work in Wales taking sessions. However through the CD, folk can enjoy her singing at home as well!” added Grenville. “She has a great voice and on the CD she is ‘double-tracked, so it’s a Cheryl duet!”

With support from the National Lottery, in Wales, Goldies Cymru will be introducing new sessions for people living with dementia and their carers working with Dementia Matters in Powys and the Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services (PAVS) in the weeks ahead, responding to their request ‘we want Goldies sessions please in our area!”

The Golden-Oldies Charity was started by Bath-based choir leader Grenville Jones in 2007. From just four daytime sessions in community rooms, taken himself, it grew to over 200 (pre-Covid) across England and Wales (Goldies Cymru) where it is supported by the Moondance Foundation.

Sir Cliff Richard is Patron of Golden-Oldies.

As restrictions have lifted, the charity has been able to bring back its fun singalongs in community rooms, church halls and Libraries across the UK.

“It was a slow process at first,” says Grenville, “but in recent months, both in England and Wales, GOLDIES IS NOW BACK.

“The aim of the Charity is quite simple, it is to bring people together through social sessions featuring the popular hits of the 60s onwards. Provoking memories of times past and cherished thoughts. A reason to get out, meet new friends and SMILE.

“Loneliness and isolation are a major issue across communities and we are working hard to bring back our popular sessions in more areas in the months ahead. Everyone loves a good singalong!” says Grenville.

In England 65 Sing&Smile sessions have relaunched across the country, from Bradford in Yorkshire to Cornwall, with 35 planned for Wales by the close of 2022.

Fantastic support from many organisations and Trusts have enabled the Charity to respond to the many requests for Goldies groups, meeting the demand for fun daytime social activities for older adults who have experienced isolation in the pandemic.

Included in the new sessions are the East London, Havering Asian Welfare Association, who run a traditional Sing&Smile session alongside a popular Bollywood Goldies sing and dance. Inns Court Community and Family Centre in Bristol is another new session that has started to provide an afternoon of entertainment.

The Charity have welcomed eight new Session Leaders to their team over the last six months and are keen to recruit new Leaders. Contact Emma in the Goldies office on 01761 470006 or [email protected] for more information about the work of the Charity.

Dydd Mercher 6 Gorffennaf 2022

Ar ôl cael eu gorfodi gan Covid i ganslo eu holl sesiynau Canu a Gwenu HWYL yn 2010, aeth Elusen Golden-Oldies â’u sesiynau canu wythnosol HWYL ar-lein.

www.goldieslive.com

Fe wnaeth ‘canu soffa’ gyflwyno Cheryl Davies, arweinydd sesiwn Goldies yng Nghymru, i gynulleidfa wythnosol o bobl hŷn ar draws y Deyrnas Unedig.

“Roedd canu Cheryl mor boblogaidd fel bod yr elusen wedi cynhyrchu CD ohoni yn perfformio rhai o’r alawon mwyaf poblogaidd sydd mor boblogaidd gyda’n pobl hŷn”, meddai Grenville Jones, sefydlydd yr Elusen.

Rhestr caneuon – gweler diwedd y datganiad.

Fe wnaeth llawer o gartrefi preswyl a mudiadau cymorth i’r henoed ffrydio’r sesiynau ddwywaith yr wythnos gyda Cheryl yn dod yn llais (ac wyneb) poblogaidd ‘Goldies’, fel y caiff ei alw fel arfer.

Rhoddir y CD trac dwbl gyda phum cân noblogaidd o’r 50au i bawb sy’n ôl yn mynychu ac yn mwynhau eu sesiynau poblogaidd mewn neuaddau eglwys, ystafelloedd cymunedol a llyfrgelloedd.

“Mae Cheryl yn arwain gwaith yr Elusen yng Nghymru, gan arwain sesiynau. Fodd bynnag drwy’r CD gall pobl fwynhau ei chanu yn eu cartrefi hefyd”, ychwanegodd Grenville. “Mae ganddi lais gwych ac mae ‘trac dwbl’ ar y CD, felly mae’n ddeuawd gan Cheryl!”

Gyda chefnogaeth gan y Loteri Genedlaethol yng Nghymru bydd Goldies Cymru yn cyflwyno sesiynau newydd i bobl sy’n byw gyda dementia a’u gofalwyr gan weithio gyda Dementia Matters ym Mhowys a Chymdeithas Gwasanaethau Gwirfoddol Sir Benfro (PAVS) yn yr wythnosau i ddod, gan ymateb i’w cais ‘rydym eisiau sesiynau Goldies yn ein hardal os gwelwch yn dda!”

Sefydlwyd Elusen Golden-Oldies yn 2007 gan Grenville Jones, arweinydd côr sy’n byw yng Nghaerfaddon. O ddim ond pedair sesiwn yn ystod y dydd mewn ystafelloedd cymunedol, gydag ef ei hun yn arwain, tyfodd i dros 200 (cyn Covid) ar draws Lloegr a Chymru (Goldies Cymru) lle caiff ei chefnogi gan Sefydliad Moondance.

Syr Cliff Richard yw Llywydd Golden-Oldies.

Wrth i gyfyngiadau godi, mae’r elusen wedi medru dod â’i sesiynau canu hwyliog mewn ystafelloedd cymunedol, neuaddau eglwys a llyfrgelloedd yn ôl ar draws y Deyrnas Unedig.

“Proses araf oedd hi i ddechrau,” meddai Grenville, ond mewn misoedd diweddar, yn Lloegr a hefyd yng Nghymru, MAE GOLDIES YN ÔL.

“Mae nod yr Elusen yn eithaf syml, sef dod â phobl ynghyd drwy sesiynau cymdeithasol drwy ganeuon poblogaidd o’r 60au ymlaen, gan ddod ag atgofion o ddyddiau fu ac atgofion annwyl. Rheswm i fynd allan, cwrdd â ffrindiau newydd a GWENU.

“Mae unigrwydd a bod yn ynysig yn broblem fawr ar draws cymunedau ac rydym yn gweithio’n galed i ddod â’n sesiynau poblogaidd yn ôl mewn mwy o ardaloedd yn y misoedd i ddod. Mae pawb wrth eu bodd gyda sesiwn canu dda!” meddai Grenville.

Yn Lloegr cafodd 65 o sesiynau Canu a Gwenu eu hail-lansio ar draws y wlad, o Bradford yn Swydd Efrog i Gernyw, gyda 35 ar y gweill ar gyfer Cymru erbyn diwedd 2022.

Mae cefnogaeth wych gan lawer o sefydliadau ac ymddiriedolaethau wedi galluogi’r elusen i ymateb i lawer o geisiadau ar gyfer grwpiau Goldies, gan ateb y galw am weithgareddau cymdeithasol hwyliog yn ystod y dydd ar gyfer oedolion sydd wedi bod yn unig yn y pandemig.

Mae’r sesiynau newydd yn cynnwys rhai yn nwyrain Llundain, Havering Asian Welfare Association, sy’n cynnal sesiwn Canu a Gwenu draddodiadol wrth ochr cân a dawns Bollywood Goldies. Mae Canolfan Gymunedol a theulu Inns Court ym Mryste yn sesiwn newydd arall a ddechreuwyd i roi prynhawn o adloniant.

Mae’r Elusen wedi croesawu wyth o arweinwyr sesiwn newydd i’w tîm dros y chwe mis diwethaf ac maent yn awyddus i recriwtio arweinwyr newydd. Cysylltwch ag Emma yn swyddfa Goldies ar 01761 470006 neu [email protected] i gael mwy o wybodaeth am waith yr Elusen.
