Twyn Primary School

Time after Time Event – Twyn Primary School, Caerphilly on Wednesday, 23rd March, 2015.

Report by Emlyn Schiavone, Time after Time Project Leader.

The intergenerational afternoon started with a lunch at the school hall for invited grandparents and members of the local Goldies group that meet at the Vanguard Centre, Caerphilly. They were joined by pupils who were helpful and enjoyed sharing their interests and experiences.

The meal was followed by a lively session of singing led by Rachel Parry, Goldies Cymru Programme Leader. The pupils chose some of the songs and the group was joined by Amanda Davies, Intergen Co-ordinator, who helped to arrange the event. The Head teacher and Deputy Head also participated in the singing and thoroughly enjoyed the vibrancy of the afternoon.

The second part of the afternoon involved an art and craft activity. The children and older persons enthusiastically created colourful Easter book markers. They encouraged and helped each other and were pleased with their products.

Emlyn Schiavone, Time after Time Project Leader, thanked the children, Grandparents and Goldies for their active participation. He also thanked Rachel Parry for leading the singing. A special thanks to the school for hosting the event and to Amanda Davies for helping with the arrangements.
