This intergenerational schools project is funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund.
We want all schools in Wales to get involved in our award-winning Time after Time programme.
We want you to engage with lonely older people in your local community to take part in projects that encourage your pupils to talk, sing and communicate with the elderly at school-organised events.
This project is led by the Goldies Cymru charity that encourages people who are socially isolated to get out and enjoy being with others through music and activities. Your project does not have to be music-led, and we have listed some project suggestions but do welcome your own school, and your pupil's ideas.
Your contact is our Goldies Cymru programme leader Emlyn Schiavone who would be delighted to hear from you. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org
We want you to invite the elderly into your school to enjoy time together with your pupils. This could include the grand parents of your pupils or the people who attend our local Goldies Cymru singing sessions in your area. Music could be at the heart of things, but it does not have to be! Our leaflet explains how we envisage how your Time after Time project will run, and ways in which your school can take part in this unique community cohesion project. Click to download the leaflet.

Please think about intergenerational projects. There are many ways you can do this and these can run throughout the year to suit your timetable. Here are some ideas:
Remembering World War One.
Your school could organise a World War One day to sing the songs that brought communities together (we can help with the words and music) or perhaps you could choose a WWONE photographic memory project, working with a group of elderly people from your community? You might hold an open day inviting parents and grandparents as well as other senior citizens into your school with World War One as the theme of the day.
Here are some more ideas for projects, but we do welcome your suggestions:
- Drama – Young and old together performing a musical or drama – it could be one that you have written together
- Memories – school in MY days – school meals – playground games then and now?
- Art – Portrait paintings of the elderly. Visual reminders – family connections to your school
- Make and Mend – sewing, knitting, forgotten talents bought back to life
- Your Ideas – we welcome your ideas!
